NNBS door lock actuators
When I bought my truck almost a year ago I had 3 of the 4 door lock actuators replaced and now this afternoon the 4th,drivers door, decided it was time to go out. What is it that burns out or seizes up in these that they keep going bad?I've seen numerous posts on other forums about this problem and I was just curious as to what exactly goes bad on them.Is it a solenoid or wiring chafing through or what?

Re: NNBS door lock actuators
The solenoids fail...yes, they are crap. I replace them on a regular basis.

Re: NNBS door lock actuators
Figures,so I take it the new ones being put in are no doubt just as big a piece of crap as the ones burning out now?I have been trying for almost a year now to have the auto locking feature deactivated and I got informed by a dealership here that I would have to pay like $140 for them to get a "fleet code" from GM so that they could get into the BCM or whichever module it is and then pay a dealer service tech however long it will take to actually do it.Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me,it can't be that difficult to access these commands is it?

Re: NNBS door lock actuators
i don't know for sure if they are the same part or not, probably are. I have never de-avcivated the door locks on a truck like yours, so I'm not sure what it would take. I'm sure there would be programing involved. Sometimes a special process is required in which the dealer needs to call Techline, they will change the programing for your VIN# then the dealer will reprogram the BCM with the new programing.

Re: NNBS door lock actuators
rule number one if it moves lube it. take a look at the old solenoid, chances are it was not lubed up right. i had a 1985 chevy that lived on back roads. every now and then it was good to blow out the dust in the doors and lube up the window unit, door locks and solenoids.
