02 focus oil filter
I recently did my first oil change on a 02 focus. It has a 2.0 zetec motor in it. I could not see anywhere on the car where it said dohc, but looking at the motor, I assumed it was one. I purchased a filter accordingly. Upon removing the old filter, I noticed quite a difference in the length of the filters. I took the old filter back to the store and discovered it was the same size as the filter tagged for the sohc. I exchanged filters and went ahead with the oil change. After digging into this a little more I see that the zetec is in fact a dohc. My question is; will running this filter on my motor be harmful in any way? Should I change it immediately or wait until my next scheduled oil change to do so?

Re: 02 focus oil filter
It will not hurt your engine, depending the the manufacturer some filters are longer then others. Oil filters are designed to fit many model of engines.

Re: 02 focus oil filter
I think they are the same. At one point, FL400S is for SOHC only. There was a 500 or something. When I go to auto store now, i don't find that 500 anymore. It is all 400S.
