Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

Does anybody knows if exist (or existed) the 1/24 scale model kit of the jag lightweight used in historical competitions?

I have both gunze e-type cabrio and airfix e-type. the wheels I already scratchbuild in 24 (the little serie I did for my dino 206sp in progress), but before start cut and paste plastic or resin I would like to ask u.

I like a lot this car, and she is extremely fats in modern-historical races

thank u for any info.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

This car has never been made by a major model manufacturer in 1/24th scale; you would have to modify a Gunze or Heller kit. The closest you could get would be the Profil24 1964 Le Mans car. 40 FXN or the unobtainable Scalekraft Lindner Nocker cae, 4868 WK.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

The ScaleKraft Linder car was a copy of the very old SMTS 1/24th scale lightweight kit. Both are very hard to find now. I prefer the original SMTS kit as it has a resin body and metal chrome plated and rubber parts.

Joker 24 made the Cunningham(white/blue) car in 1/24th scale.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

Hi,
The Joker 24 was made in Japan and is resin. The SMTS/SMS was made in England. SMTS made alot of 1/43rd kits and are well known. I don't have pictures but I can take them when I get a chance. The Joker 24 is ok but you could do as good with a Heller XKE modified. Decals...Check with Pattos if they have any..The numbers are a little tricky but nothing you can't put together. For the SMTS lightweight Linder car, you should get the SMTS kit as the car has alot of changes. The original Linder car was destroyed. They have a few replicas of the car running around in England. Linder, the owner was killed in the car when he flipped it back in 1964.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

I'm pretty sure it was Motor Racing Models magazine had an excellent series of articles about the GT cars of that era. They had a series of drawings showing the modifications needed to make this car. I'll try and find it for you.

Well, I think the Revell is 1/25th scale. The Heller is alot better overall.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

also discover Lidner car (german importer for jags) was a different model too:

http://www.extravaganzi.com/most-exp...jaguar-e-type/

...real interesting stuff...12 done, already 4 different versions. LOL. So why I see so many nice ones in modern historic racings?

The last nice one I've seen in Monza last june (driven gratly by Emanuele Pirro, ex audi sport team) was a lightweigth too,and was too cool to see her entering the variante ascari always in drifting /oversteer. For 2 hours.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

I made the Cunningham car a while back from the old 1/32 Airfix kit.
A lot of filling, cutting and scratchbuilding - particularly the non-existent light bowls and lights - as well as making a rear cockpit bulkhead - there isn't one in the kit so you can see the rear wheels behind the seats!
I made my own decals and did the steel wheels by turning the kit wheels back-to-front and using steel washers and nuts for the inner part of the rims.

Fun and I'm going to make the E2A car from the Airfix too sometime.

Sorry the images are side by side across the page - I can't get them to
go underneath each other......

Roy.

Re: Info about Jaguar E-Type lightweight

that's a very cool model Roy.
I have the coupè version from airfix, and the spider from revell.revell is indeed way smaller (1:25) than airfix(heller?) one.
Both are not so nice models, airfix looks indeed better and little more detailed.

I notw btw the lightweight (probably many many many replicas around, exactly as for the gt40 where all replicate the Gulf flared body) has some "muscles" not presend in ordinary e-type derivated model kits.
Those are the curves I would like to recreate, with milliput..pasta...salsa...sauerkrauts. whatever.

keeping her lower as a real lowrider (as in many racing pics).

wheels will be those. I saved the mouldings and some copied from the metal rims coming from the dino 206 sp with fujimi Ac Cobra tires
