1991 Ford: Battery drain caused by both engine and meter fuses
I have a 1991 ford laser thats battery has been found completely drained if left overnight..even after several hours. After running a test light, I found that both the engine and meter fuses were involved. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Re: 1991 Ford: Battery drain caused by both engine and meter fuses
Do you have access to a wiring diagram for the car? You're probably going to need one to identify which circuits are on those fuses and start isolating them one at a time.
I'm not familiar with the Ford Laser so I doubt I'll be able to help you out with the diagram, unless it's the same as some US model. -Rod |

Re: 1991 Ford: Battery drain caused by both engine and meter fuses
test light is only marginal- might tell you something- might not relate
remove the negitive battery terminal- in somewhat dark- slowly bring it to the terminal- you see a spark- when you in fact know nothing is on- aftermarket add on's- sterio system- lights- you don't have them correct- AND- you can remove your good battery, set it on something not the ground or cement for 12-24 hours- and it holds a charge- you install it, there is no spark at the negetive terminal- vehicle turns over strong some years back auto mechanics who would tackle electrical vehicle problems would get every bit as much as a licensed home electrician- in short- tracing down/finding the solution/correcting it- could and might cost $35.00 an hour or up you are asking- as a previous mechanic/business owner- I had one who would take on any vehicle electrical issue- but he expected to be paid for his time good luck in your internet search of a simple cheap fix- |
