'96 LSS crankshaft seal replacement...

I have a auto trans, non-SC LSS with a leak at the crankshaft seal. I believe it's the front seal because I can see it dripping from behind the pulley. Is this a hard job? Can someone give me some pointers or steps.....

Thanks ahead of time .

Re: '96 LSS crankshaft seal replacement...

Remove the crank bolt........remove the balancer using a puller(screws of puller screw in the oval holes of the balancer)....If plastic shield is in way(covers crank sensor), pop it off.....then using a seal remover, remove the seal(if seal does not have a metal lip that fits flush to the cover, make a note of the depth of the seal into the cover....may just be flush)......lube the lip of the seal......install.....check the neck(where it mates with the seal) of the balancer for grooving....if light grooving, use crocus cloth......if very deep, balancer will have to be replaced.....install balancer....crank bolt.....
