chev.s10/ zr2 package/ 4wd
I have a Chav.s10 /2001/ zr2. //4wd I have about 5 inches of stearing slop. What do I need to do to fix the problem?

the steering gear is the usual cause of this. first you must have the complete front end steering arms/ball joints/tie rods/idler arm/pitman arm tested for excessive wear. if the steering gear does require replacement get a scrap yard unit rather than a rebuilt one. many have had problems with the rebuit ones failing quickly . trying to adjust the box gear play will not work. the gears if worn are the problem . this is because the fluid was never changed or contaminated with water. at this time check the front hubs and control arm bushings for wear. |
