Best starting point for a Singer 911
Hi, all... inspired by the article in this month's Evo, I'd love to build a model of a Singer 911. I'm not normally a Porsche guy, but it just looks SOOOO cool.
http://www.singervehicledesign.com/gallery/index.php I need some advice on where to start, kit wise. The article says the cars start out as "964" 911s, but the bodywork is inspired by the 2.8 RSR, which even I know is an earlier car... My question is, which Fujimi or Revell (or even Tamiya) Porsche should I be looking for to base my build on. I think I want to do minimum bodywork changes, so even if the mechanicals are a 964, if the body's not right I might want something earlier-style. Any suggestions, folks? bestest, M. |

Re: Best starting point for a Singer 911
I was recently looking at the same idea and while I'm no expert I had thought the Fujimi 73 Carrera would be the best to start with.
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10022382 Scale Productions make a resin trans kit for this that gives you the flared out guards body and wheels. http://www.scaleproduction.de/produc...s-r--1973.html ![]()

Re: Best starting point for a Singer 911
I think you're almost certainly right, Ron. It's a darned expensive way to go about it, mind, and also seems like a bit of a waste of an "Enthusiast Model" kit with all that engine detail... I'll have to keep looking! Thanks for the direction, though!

Re: Best starting point for a Singer 911
You wouldn't lose any detail as the Scale Production body is a direct replacement for the Fujimi body and uses the Fujimi engine cover so all the engine detail is retained.
I agree its a darned expensive way to go but I bet its cheaper than a real one

Re: Best starting point for a Singer 911
Maybe you can combine the Scale Production body with a Fujimi 964 chassis? 911 and 964 have different suspensions and even floor pans, so if the real thing is based on the 964, the model would be more correct this way (and also cheaper).
