HLJ Question

OK, I'm about to make my first HLJ order, and what do you know, the number 1 thing I want is suddenly not in stock. Tamiya Compound. How long will it take do you think, for them to get it back in stock? Should I place my order now and wait for it to come in stock (to avoid having something else go off the list while I wait)... Also, when would I be charged for it all? I want to take advantage of the high Canadian dollar...

You get charged when they ship your order, so beware, exchange rates may still fluctuate while you wait...

Compound is super-common; Tamiya is always making it. They'll probably reorder it as soon as you place your order, if they haven't already...

I took out an F40 photoetch kit at the last moment. I don't know if it's really worth like $20...

oh, and should I drop in the Tamiya wax as well, or do you not really need it/could you use an automotive wax? I was thinking of just using Carnauba (sp?) wax...

I'd say, $20 is acceptable, especially they don't reissue PE parts, once it's out of production. The pre cut tail mesh sheet is very handy, although you can cut a mesh sheet yourself.

Tamiya wax is safe to use on most of the hobby paint, so you don't have to worry about the compatibility of it so much, but automotive wax works just fine. I know that Rain Dance and Zymol don't damage either Testor lacquer clear, Tamiya TS spray, and Gunze Mr. Color bottle and spray paints.
You might want to ask other AF members about the compatibility between car wax and paint brand.

I use basically nothing but TS paints, so I should be ok for the most part. Also, the only other type of paint I would use would be automotive, so I'd better be ok there!

I juste placed my first order last week too (still waiting they ship.. damn they are slow)

I ordered a C-West too and I had a TS paint in my chart that was not in stock, but was LOW supply... but they sayd I wouldn't receive it untill 2 week, so I just removed it from my order since I can get it here for cheaper

and for the wax, I use Automotive Wax (Meguire or something like that.. red bottle)
