Service traction control and error code

Hello forum Im hoping you can help me solve my car problem. I have a 2006 Chevy impala lt with a 3.5 engine. Over the past few days I have noticed that its seems to hold back when I press thee accelerator but only slightly. Then today the "service traction control" light appeared on the dash so I hooked it up to the computer to see if there were any codes and got P0107. I went out and got a MAP sensor and replaced it but both messages still appear...any ideas what is going on?

Re: Service traction control and error code

While you have taken care of the MAP sensor problem, a basic code reader will NOT read ABS, or "C" codes. You need to have the ABS codes checked by someone with a ABS capable scanner. ( I know the ABS llight is not on, but the EBCM turns on the "service traction control" message)

Re: Service traction control and error code

Thank you for that information I had no idea. I took the car to advance auto and hooked it up to the right kind of scanner but the only code that popped up was the one I previously mentioned (p0107). Traction control message was gone this morning but came back on with the same symptoms after I drove it for about 20 miles. Any other suggestions?

Re: Service traction control and error code

Are they (advanced auto) sure their scanner can read ABS codes? Sometimes those guys are not the sharpest tools in the shead. If the "service traction control" message is on, there SHOULD be a code stored.

Re: Service traction control and error code

If you look at the ABS wires on the front right and left wheels there is a high chance that there is a broken or 1/2 broken wire that gives a trac off light and abs light on from time to time. ABS each time the car is started will compleat a self test.
