AC/Delco fuel pump question

I am replacing a fuel pump on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. I am replacing it with an AC Delco part #MU1777 fuel pump module. It is a re-engineered design, and the first thing I noticed is it did not come with a new strainer. This is the first pump I have ever replaced that did not come with one. There doesn't appear to be a place to snap a strainer into place at the bottom, at least not one like the original. Then someone told me that the new redesigned pump doesn't require a strainer, as it is internal. Can someone verify this for me? I have looked on ACDELCO's website and can't find any info, and their tech support is not available until Monday. I really need to get this job finished tomorrow, but I don't want to install this expensive new module without a strainer if it is supposed to have one. Thanks so much in advance if someone can shed some light on this.
