Rear Jack/Lift point for placing jackstands

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to place my hydraulic jack in the back to lift the rear up all at once? In the front, I put in on the subframe and then place the jackstands on the designated points behind the wheel wells. I've heard of some jacking up by the back axle but given that it was patched on a recall, that doesn't seem like the best idea.

Well, you might try a 2x6, make long enough to reach from side to side. Not touch anything but the jack points/frame-rail. I can't be sure that would work without looking at your vehicle. It's just a thought. Be safe.

Does nobody else jack up the van from the back? How do you put both back wheels on jack stands to change rear breaks??

I use one jack, and jack stands, on both sides.

Actually, I usually jack one side, lower vehicle onto jack stand ... and then move to the other side with jack, raise that side and leave the jack in place while doing work. If I go under car, the second jack stand gets placed. I have a light-weight 2 ton aluminum jack that is handy for moving about.

... and BTW, I would never use center of the rear axle as a jack or support point! I think it might bend pretty easily.

Thanks 12ounce. Do you jack up at the pinch weld or place your jacks there? Obviously you can't jack at the same spot you place the jackstands!

I use a short length of 2x6 to create space for both the jack and the stand.
