1997 gp overheat
yes, my 97 gp has been overheating. every 1 week or so i have to ad antifreeze,can't see where it is leaking at? and when going up hills it will go above 210. the fans are kicking on and brings down some. all help will be appreciated.

The first thing to do is check the oil to make sure that the coolant isn't getting into the crankcase. If that is free of coolant then check the area at the front of the engine to see if you can find any coolant lying around the pulley area. Finally, if that is clear then place some cardboard under the engine and run the vehicle until it gets hot. If there is a leak you should be able to spot some sign of it where it is dripping on the cardboard. One other area to check is the carpet on the passenger side. If it is wet the heater core may be leaking and the coolant is coming inside the vehicle.

If there are no EXTERNAL leaks found, then chances are you have an upper plenum leaking at the opening near the EGR tube pass-thru(3.8 engine).....if 3.1, then lower intake gaskets....

Overheating problems can sometimes be traced to head gasket leaks also.
