BMW E46 M3 and CSL version Versus Porsche 911 and GT2.

BMW E46 M3 and CSL version Versus Porsche 911 and GT2.
[BMW wins obviously]

This is the seccond installment in my “All star list of the top ten things that I hate”. This time its about Porsche’s and they are seccond on the list.

Following BMW's production of its fantastic E46 M3 and it being able to beat anything in the field [including the long reigning 911], they decided to build a CSL version [Coupe Sport Lightweight]. This is a lighter, faster and overall a more aggressive version of the original M3.
For years BMW hasn't built a CSL version of one of its models until now. The last model to have the honour of such a title wasnt even an 'M' car. It was the 3.0 CS. The 3.0 CSL was a racing version of the 3.0 CS that featured wider tires, suspension tweaks and lightweight body components. The new E46 M3 CSL will have just the same tweeks and add-ons, but better ones. Mwahahahaha.
The beauty of low curb weight, lots of power and a balanced chassis cannot be under-estimated by those whose televisions are constantly tuned to Speedvision and who would rather challenge themselves in an autocross event than watch a football game in some crowded stadium.
These new modifications mean that BMW [with the porsche Boxster and 911 out of the way thanks to the standard M3] can now compete with Porsche's 911 GT2 [arguably one of Stuttgart’s finest creations some say...but not me].

Following the prototype of the CSL M3, BMW took it for a few laps round Gremanys [and if not the worlds] most demanding circuit: The Nurburg ring racetrack. It took UNDER 8 minutes, a time that beat the already impressive production M3 by nearly 30 seconds. Or, to put it into highly technical racing terms, the standard M3 got caned [and so did the Porsche 911 GT2 might i add].

So ladies and Gentlemen, those of you who are so in love with your yun-off-the-mill 911's and GT2's, just think: M3 CSL + Nurenburg ring = Under 8 mins and bye bye reign of Posche.

Regards.

What a mismatched comparo and stupid claims you make. "BMW wins obviously"?

The GT2's faster than the CSL, it's lapped the Nurburgring in 7mins and 46 seconds. Idiot. Im a huge fan of M3's but i know to accept it when another car is faster... much much faster.

Not by a long shot. No offence, but if you read my article then it clearly states what im banging on about. To put it simply: The original M3 gets the run-off-the-mill Boxer out of the way because, quite frankly, it canes it. Seccondly this leaves the way clear for the M3 CSL to take on the likes of the 911 GT2, ehich has reigned supreme for so long.
I would never compare the CSL [as fantastic as it is] with the Porsche GT racer as that would be as mixed matched as a monkey dating a girrafe.
If I were to compare the Porshe GT racer with another BMW then, you guessed it, it would have to be the Porsche GT's rival: the BMW M3 GT.
None the less, the BMW GT and the Porsche GT are as about as evenly matched as you can get.
If the Porsche was the fastest of the two BY FAR [which it isn't] then, being the non-conformist that i am, then i would keep with the BMW.
Everybody harps on about how great the Porshe is, when it clearly isn't. I mean, they have been stubborn enough to keep their models rear engined, and almost all RWD since they began making the things. For deccades they have been trying to rectify their little steering problems, but still they can't come up with a goodenough system to beat their rivals.
I could go on, but i won't bore you with my ramblings.

Regards.

My friend, you don’t know M3’s and you don’t know 911’s. Yes, the M3 is quicker than the Boxster, and so it should be with 100 extra horses. In terms of chassis technology both cars are brilliant, the Boxster has been more critically acclaimed. But you make your own mind up on that one.
“The GT2 has reigned supreme for so long?” My friend, the GT2 has not been around for quite so long, if we discount the 993 GT2 which was a very limited production model and rarely used as a benchmark. And don’t compare the CSL with the GT2, in terms of pure speed the GT2 will leave the BM in its wake. Majorly. A better comparison would be the new GT3 and the M3 CSL, which both have the track in mind and more similar figures. If the CSL is regarded to be a better drivers car than the GT3, I’ll take my hat off to it. But to be honest, the BM has its work cut out.

Quite possibly one of the most idiotic things ive ever read. You sound like a 5 year old when you say “porsches clearly aren’t great”, you cant spell "decade", and a Porsche having bad steering?!? You’ve obviously never driven one. If you had to steal one thing from Porsche when making a sports car, the steering would be it. 911’s are renowned for their magnificent, communicative steering, and I've delighted in this first hand. Yes, they have been stubborn with the engine in the rear, but for the last decade, its worked… incredibly well. “not good enough to beat their rivals”!! with the GT3 and Turbo, Porsche make two of the finest cars on earth and have trumped everything Maranello have come up with, bar the Stradale, which should have a monumental showdown with the GT3.

Im sure you could go on filling pages and pages of this rubbish, but your argument seems to be “Porsche is crap”, in other words utterly without sense. Feel free to start a thread about any BMW you like, but no mindless bashing. This thread is closed
