1985 firebird
4spd auto v6 torque - 165@3900 hp - 135@5100 mutipoint fuel injection 3.42 rear end is this car reliable and can people tell me what the common problems are...?? thanks.. |

I had an '84, and found it to be an enjoyable car. The only problem that I had with it was the carburetor, but since you have EFI, that shouldn't be a problem.
The other problem area is with the T-Tops, but you didn't mention if you had them or not. These are a common source of leaks. Check out thirdgen.org for more info on these cars. Also, do a search in the FAQ to find the trouble code guide. It was possible to jump the computer connector with a paperclip, and cause the Check Engine light to flash the codes.

Whoa, V6 and auto don't mix. That V6 is a piece of crap. Even the 305's are a joke. Atleast find a manual, OR atleast find a V8.

The v6's are good for normal driving they are not a race motor

anybody know if they make headers or performance cams for a 2.8V6?
i have a 89 firebird 4spd auto trans with 150hp and 170lb-ft torque because of resistor that adds 20hp, but i don't know if it is that reliable. |
