completely dead 85 S10
Hey guys-can anybody help this old man? I changed out the gastank in my 85 s10. I got the tank from a wrecking yard and unfortunately they have crushed it and i dont know what year it came out of. Definately older than newer than mine. any way the wiring is different and the hoses coming out were slightly different. On the inlet outlet hoses one was crossed over the other, but I put them the exact way mine came off. it was wrong and the evaporater filled up, so I put it back the way I think it should go. On my old tank there was only 1 wire leading to the tank, the new one has 2. well I hooked it up wrong and fried something. both wires were hot, (after carefully tracing the wires, I discovered that a red lead from the a hot junction on the firewall was coupled and then became a black wire, directly behind the distributer!). So any way it had 2 hot leads and obviously has fried something. My question is; is there a fuseable link somewhere? Ive been slowly tracing the wires and replacing anything that looks bad or felt like it might have gotten hot. At this point I have no juice anywhere. The battery shows hot, and there are no fuses that appear blown, still no juice. Im trying to track the point of short by using a volt meter ? Any suggestions or information would be helpfull. Could it be the coil, or solenoid? would that make the entire elecrical system to go dead?? Please help, This is my work truck and Ive been under it now for going on the third day. It is a 1985 S10 Durango 2.8 liter, manual transmission, no frills short box, with standard cab. Im having to use my 92 Mercury Capri xr2 tuner for a work truck!!! I would also like to know if the truck has a manual or electric fuel pump, and the correct wiring when it has 2 wires
