Consider using 50/50 Prestone Extended life antifreeze, it canbe mixed with all colors.

Thanks. The reason I bring the issue up is that some posts on other forums say anything other than original coolant and the additive harm head gaskets. Thanks again

If the coolant looks good during the flush, you might want to stay with whats recommended.
The most important thing, it's on your schedule, see neglected coolant services AF.

Aluminum block, heads, rubber hoses, were did the rust come from? Water pump impeller, or
bad galvanized freeze plug.

Re: Antifreeze 2005 forester.

I'm ashamed to say this but almost 118,000 miles and I haven't flushed it.I waited till' last year this time to change transmission fluid/ filter.I did manange to change it again ealrier this week.Timing belt, struts, back brakes and plug wires haven't been deal twith either. But I'm getting little done here and there.
Also I'm hearing from other Subaru sources the factory coolant additive is a must also. Thanks
