Autometer brand.

Any particular style you want, like the big "5 monster size, or something smaller?

i second that, having a tach sittin on your dash looks kinda lame imho and the light only turns on at redline which isnt the best place to shift neccisarily

Nothing wrong with a clock sized tach. It's just not my style.

There's a problem with that although it's not a bad alternative.

The factory tach is notorious for being inaccurate, I've heard up to 500 RPMS in some cases in the upper RPM range, and typically about 200-300 RPMs off. Also the tach from an EX or Si cluster will have a redline reading WAY off from what a DX is, since it'll be around 6300 - 6500 RPM for a DX and something like 6800 to 7200 for an EX and Si models of that generation, I don't remember the exact numbers for each offhand though.

I have an Apexi VAFC and the rpms are read digitally and I've never seen a problem with the oem tach being wrong in relation to what my ECU is reading and displaying in my guage cluster. I'm not saying it isn't so but I've never had a prob. I agree with the whole redline thing being off which is why I bought the JDM one to match my engine but a simple shift light will correct that and IMO will look a lot better than any regular aftermarket tach or worse yet, a big ass one.

okai so it it adjustable, the perfect area to shift for each gear is different thoguh so it is still pointless, no rela point in the tach for me anyway i do it by sound and feel...

I would either go with an autometer ultra-lite, an apexi, or a DEFI unit, the DEFI stuff is badass, just hits your wallet in a big way

I picked one up for a friend for 40 bucks. Installation is plug and play. No wiring to mess with. All civics are prewired for a tach, Honda just does'nt think that DX owners paid enough for the car to deserve one I guess.
