Exhaust tone, difference between Si and LX

I have both a '89 CRX Si and '89 Civic 4D LX. Both have the D15B2 engine (the CRX had it changed by someone else), but it sounds so much better...sounds like it has so much more power. Is this just the muffler, or is the entire midpipe larger or different somehow?
Thanx

Maybe cause its bigger???

The 4door is obviously a bigger car, so why wouldnt the exhaust system have more length to it.

Also, do they both have the same header and Cat?

Both have the stock header and cat. The 4D Civic has an older muffler while the CRX had it replaced a year ago.

I have a stock 89 dx hatch. I took off the dinky intake pipe so now its just the hole before the airbox, put in a k&n filter and now when i give gas my car is loud as fuck lol.

it depends on the muffler, the size and diamater, the bigger rounder ones will give you a much deeper tone, while the ones that are not so big in diamater will give you a more "Zingy" tone I have noticed.

Ok, thanks.

Are the midpipe diameters the same on both the LX and Si, though?
