Mclaren F1 Roadcar badge from the real car for sale

To all those who might be interested, I have a rare Mclaren F1 badge emblem for sale that is from the real car. Link to the auction http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160870588134?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p39 84.m1555.l2649
I am new to this forum, and I hope it is not against the rules to post links to auctions (if it is accept my apologies) . I was told of this forum by an existing member by the name of hurstg01, and he said there were a number of people on this forum that were on the lookout for one of these Mclaren badges.

Re: Mclaren F1 Roadcar badge from the real car for sale

There are a few people I know who wanted one in the past, and have since contacted me about this auction. All use eBay, but may not yet have seen the listing

Good luck to all who bid!

Your badge is from the rear of the car - the front badges have a beveled edge on the back side all the way around. Shame someone has cut off the mounting posts and also that the badge appears curved when it should be flat. Good luck with the sale.

Re: Mclaren F1 Roadcar badge from the real car for sale

Just goes to show, to me it looked like my nose badge....The curvature led me to that. Without having seen a rear badge off a car I had nothing to compare it to....

Maybe it is lens distortion, but there isn't that much curvature to the nose badge. They sit pretty flat too.

I am sure the front badge may be slightly larger than the rear possibly if the seller could give the dimensions for it that may help clarify things unless of course I am totaly mistaken.

I know someone with both badges and dimensions are identical.

Re: Mclaren F1 Roadcar badge from the real car for sale

Thanks for your interest everyone. Just to clarify the badge measures length - 11.5cm and the height - 2.5cm. The badge sits nearly flat, there is only the slightest curvature, the photos in the auction listing make it look more curved than it really is.

Re: Mclaren F1 Roadcar badge from the real car for sale

Well I don't consider myself the final word on too many things. I stated what I currently believe to be true but am not infallible by any stretch. I'm always happy to be corrected as that means I learn something new.

There's certainly a chance that he has a front badge and that the arc is intentional, but the other front badges I have seen (three now) have had the beveled edge on the reverse. If he does have a rear badge it should absolutely be flat, that I am certain of.

Without a reserve on the Ebay auction he's got himself a buyer, no matter what.

I concur:it's a rear badge with both mounting pins removed.

These aren't that rare as the mounting pins mean that they can be easily removed/replaced without damage (unlike GTR printed aluminium rear badge).

Nice item if you haven't got one, but not unavailable (if you know where to ask !)
