Honda RS250RW Team Scot 2007 (Andrea Dovizioso)

Hi guys,

All this while, I've always wanted to have a 250cc or 125cc bike with Dovizioso's numbering & now that Hasegawa has come up with the Honda RS250RW Team Scot 2007 version, I've decided to make one.

Here are the photos of the naked bike. Unfortunately I wasn't able to put the green & red wiring on the bike as you can see here due to the wire is always loose when you try to place them. For the colouring scheme, I used TS-30 for the frame & swing arm, TS-14 for the wheels, X-56, X-18, X-10, XF-16, and XF-1 for the interior part of the bikes.











As for the completed kit with the fairings, I have difficulty attaching the top fairing at the top edge as it's always loose as you can see here. The colour I used for this fairing is TS-16 & TS-14 for the 2 parts. Unfortunately for the top fairing, you would notice that there are some fish eyes & bleeding on it.

The bottom tail I have to paintbrush the black part as I'm still not too good in masking the parts myself.

Hello Adrian,

I think you've done a great job on this kit, two tone schemes are never straight forward, so well done for that.

A couple of things I'd change for your next builds..try using flat colours for the seat pads, these are made from a hard foam or covered foam and don't normally have a sheen, however slight (perhaps after wear!). I use Humbrol flat black on mine which via airbrush can look convincing. Same for the gray pad too. It also adds a nice contrast to the glossy paint.
In addition, I'd use some localised washes on the frame, it helps to add depth to what can be a bland looking finish. You can use Tamiya's smoke for this, thinned a little and run into and around the bolts and other fittings.

I'm working on the Kato kit currently and have the Repsol version in my stash, but I'm going to order one of these kits on the strength of your build.

Adrian - when did you do this one? It's very good for the Hasegawa kit. Nice paint - decals - and details - it looks mostly OOB - did you use any of the Top Studio detail set? Also the paint? is that the Zero "scot racing" paint set? it matches well - John

Did you use a clearcoat on the body panels? what type?

I did this kit for quite some time & I didn't put any details upgrade on this kit.

Nope, I didn't use any clear coat on the body panels.

The paint I used is an enamel type of paint. I find that the XF-1 enamel doesn't seem to give out the flat colour compare to acrylic type as the acrylic version has a little light on the flat black colour scheme. I might be wrong though unless there's a way to handle the acrylic colours.

Adrian, Have you been brush painting this on? You may find that the Tamiya acrylic paint dries with some sheen because of this, enamels are better for brush painting I find. I haven't tried Tamiya's enamel, only Humbrol, which does brush well too.
Tamiya's acylics are designed to be airbrushed on, some of the newer acrylics like Vallejo are also good for brush painting which is why the figure painting guys have used them so much.

This is a seat pad on my 1998 Rossi Aprilia painted with airbrushed Humbrol flat black enamel....
