2002 suburban mirrors

Hi,
I just bought a 2002 Suburban with the heated, power, etc mirrors. Both mirrors will only move out or up. No down or in. I suspect the main mirror control switch but wondered if anyone had encountered this? I have a screwed up back right now so I won't be fixing it for a few weeks. Thanks in advance for any help.
Bill

Re: 2002 suburban mirrors

I have seen some posts where folks have disassembled and cleand the switches in these. I personally have not done so. You may need to replace the switch.

this was a problem for me when first buying my 2000 sil . after a couple of years 2002 I decided to take apart the contol pad switch. this is made just like a remote for a TV. cleaned the pad surface with alcohol and Q tip very gently and it still works today.

others here have done this and were sucessful. if this still does not work then see if you can get a new one. if it works on some positions it is most always the switch with this model.

Thanks guys - that confirms what I was thinking. Might have a fractured vertebrae so gonna lay low for a few days until they get back to me. Should be a simple fix.
