Toyota MR2

Not much to look at really.
Kit is the 93/94 MR2 from Fujimi, no engine so curbside.
Built OOB other than custom plates (Lellow is how my nephew pronounces yellow), tinted film on the rear windows and some mesh in the side vents.
Color is TS47 Chrome Yellow from Tamiya.
Had some fit issues with the windows fouling the interior but all in all went together ok.

Re: Toyota MR2

Thanks
I haven't used panel line washes before, and am a bit nervous of ruining the model doing them. What color would you suggest for this one?

The lighter your paint, the lighter your wash should be

dark blue -> black
red -> dark red
yellow -> darkened yellow
white -> light grey

For your car I would suggest the same body colour paint (TS47) with a tiny bit of black added.

The panel lines shouldn't stand out, they should just be noticable without attracting attention.

When you have doubts, you should paint some left over part with TS47, and scribe a panel line into it before if necessary. Then apply the wash and see how you succeed.
You should always test new things like that before.
Also test how much thinner you have to add. (Bit tricky...)

If you leave some bigger marks of dark paint where you add the wash, either remove it on the spot or let it dry and carefully remove it with (finish) polishing compound.

I wouldn't recommend to add washes on a waxed surface, the wash will flow all over the part...

Just do one or a couple of tests before you try it on a real model.

Re: Toyota MR2

Clean and nice build, about the panel lines, you can try water color + water + 1 drop of dish washing detergent. this method is very forgiving as excess can be easily wiped off with water and it never "stick" hard on the surface.

Re: Toyota MR2

Great Work! Love the MR2s!!! Can definetly see this one crusing the streets of Auckland!
I do my panel washes before clearcoat, some people use a super thin tiped paint marker before the colour coat too. heaps of ways to doing it!
