HELP! Bondo problems!

Okay, first off, I'm an idiot...

Basically, I've never used Bondo before until today. Actually, what I'm using is a similar filler like Bondo that's usually used for Marine applications (a.k.a. boat hulls). Now the problem is that I'm making rear speaker pods out of fiberglass, and on the first of the two, I didn't use enough cream hardener in the filler, so it's not curing properly (long story, but I'm stupid). Anyways, I need to find a way to fix this problem...

Is there something I can do to make the stuff harden? It sat in the sun all day long, and is still pretty soft in places, and even if it does harden, I'm afraid that it will just crumble... So is there something I can do to solve this problem?!

The freezer would probably make it crumble more than likely. Damn this is a tough one. Umm...just put it under a hot lamp for now(if its dark out now). If that doesn't work your going to have to sand it down and start over again.

crap.

Yeah, when I went to mix the first batch of the bondo, the directions said, for a golf-ball size amount of bondo, apply a 1.5" strip of hardener. But when I opened the hardener, there was a bunch of liquid at the top, and that's what came out when I tried to use it, so I just made like a 1.5" long puddle of the stuff.

Then, when I mixed the second batch to do the other speaker pod, the hardener came out like tooth-paste, so there was alot more of it, and I was like Oh shit! so the second one came out great, but the first is fuxor. I'll probably just sand it all off and try again.

Okay... that runny shit is probably what did it. Maybe you should have stirred up the hardner before using it. "You can't make chocolate milk without stirring it first!"

Yeah, well, I read all the directions on the big can of filler, but I neglected to read the directions on the hardener tube until AFTER I used it hahahah and it said "Knead cream hardener thoroughly before use"...

Well, you know what they say, if hindsight is 20/20, then foresight is legally blind.

So, yeah, I'm going to clean all that crap off and give it another shot...

Video is coming nicely. I've got about a minute left to add and it's done. I hope to do most of that tomorrow... Then I have to re-shoot a few scenes because in one scene, the weather is all overcast, and the next scene it's all sunny... Bugs the hell out of me. I'll let everyone know when it's done.

Mike...here is what you do......before you apply the hardner to the bondo you need to kneed it for like 30 seconds to mix it up then put it in with the bondo.......now as for the part you already did there is a way to fix it....go out and get yourself a tiny cheese grater and grate the sections that it did not harden all of the way....then just wipe it down with a wet cloth and reapply it..let me know

If it's still soft you could probably scrape it off with a piece of cardboard. Maybe even a pressure washer. All-In-All it's going to be a pain in the ass to get off.

just remember "20 parts bondo to 1 part hardener". U really cant have too much hardener, cause it will harden on ur board. I went through all of this when i did my rear fenders and side mouldings
