3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
I am looking to grab a little extra hp out of my 98 gtp without spending huge dollars. I currently have a K&N cone filter from intense racing with a heat box on it, new plugs and plug wires, a 180* t-stat, 3"downpipe, and theres no cat on the car anymore. ive read that these are the basic things needed for the 3.4 pulley to go on the car but I realize there will need to be some additional tuning done to the car if I go with the 3.4 pulley so I was looking into the reprogramed intense racing pcm to handle the tuning issues. Am I going in the right direction, is my car ready for the 3.4 pulley with this pcm, is there anything else I need to do to make this 3.4 system work, and is there anything else I can do on a tight budget to grap more hp? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Re: 3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
The first thing I would do is stay from the intense programed PCM. Some folks have had issues with these although that was some time ago and they have probably gotten the bugs worked out by now. Since you have no cat I am assuming you have and O2 simulator on the car to avoid the CEL. You have already done the right things but I would suggest a good set of headers or ported manifolds to get the gasses out of the engine and take advantage of the three inch downpipe. I would also be looking at better flowing mufflers and possibly a good exhaust system to along with the headers.
If you get a reprogrammed PCM and upgrade the rest of the exhaust system you should be good to go. One other thing you may want to consider is new valve springs and rocker arms to get more fuel flow. |

Re: 3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
I had a 3.4 on mine for some time with no issues. I had autolite 104 plugs, 180 stat, 2.5" catted downpipe, and a DHP 1.0 reprogrammed pcm. The rest was stock including the airbox and exhaust. Keep in mind that if your stock now and sliding by running less than 91 octane, once that 3.4" is on, you risk blowing your motor with anything less than 91.
PS I returned mine to stock just cause of the age and milage. I need it to last as I dont want another car payment. mines a 2000 with 190k.

Re: 3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
make sure you have access to a scanner to check for knock. with a re programmed pcm you should be ok, idealy you would want what GTP DAD said but many have run what you have and have been fine. a ZZP pcm would work just fine for what you want to do.

Re: 3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
I have that link on my parts and performance section. He takes a long time getting the product to you though.

Re: 3.4 pulley GTP mod questions
I prefer ZZP but the other guys have good stuff too and sometimes better prices. My Roller rockers were only available elsewhere (INTENSE) at the time I bought them and now they sell them on ZZP. So sometimes you have to look around.
