no, they don´t need "some work", before buying them you better leave them, where they are: on the dealers shelf.

Look here, a German forum, were a modeler startes with a BS-Kit (look at THAT body) and how much work he needed to get the right look: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum...ighlight=Manta
