Re: F2001
So I have an update, I have decided my skills are not high enough to use the SMS detail set. I will still be using the Carbon and I will buy another F2001 at a later time so I can use the PE set. I had heaps of problems whilst painting the monocoque. I didn't take any pictures but I can try to explain what happened.
The first problem was that I painted the red using Tamiya TS-49. This is a great colour and it worked perfectly. But, then I masked off the red and painted the black. That worked well also. But once I took off the masking tape there was still a lot of sticky residue on the body. I am pretty sure that I put the tape on too early and the read paint was still a little bit wet. ![]() I sanded off all of the sticky stuff and painted the red again. So then, the read came through onto the black so I had to paint that again. I painted the black and that came through to the red. ![]() ![]() ![]() So this is where I am now. Sanding and multiple coats of red. I also had a go at putting carbon on the underpanel. I was farely succesful but I still have heaps of room for improvement. Now to get back to the monocoque. Sam |

Re: F2001
SAM, I think someting can be learned from our problems or bad actions. In the future, you will wait more time for touching the painted pieces (I also believe that it has happened to all the modelers once in the live).
For your F2001 body, you could remove all the paint putting it in brake fluid and starting again, firstly with primer this time. I will follow your project because I have it in my pendings. Good luck anyway!! |

Re: F2001
Thanks Jesus,
I have defiantly learn't a lot, and I hope to learn a lot more. I have got the body back to what it's supposed to look like. But I will use brake fluid next time. Sam |

Re: F2001
Ok, slow but steady work on this model.
I have started painting some of the engine pieces. And I applied my first ever Carbon Fibre decal on the bottom of the car. I must say that it is not perfect but I am fairly happy with how I went for my first go. |
