Thumbs up Re: 2004 flex fuel filter removal

never had much trouble getting em off. get the cheap scissor type fuel disconnect tool the inserts are usually pretty long and put it on the line and push the line on as far as you can while also pushing in on the tool and then pull back, it should come right off. it might take a couple of tries but do it like that and you will get it! signed, always stuck in diagnostics!!

Re: 2004 flex fuel filter removal

I did this on my 03 Flex Fuel today. There is not much room to get the quick-connect tool to fit in and separate. I was able to work it off by twisting and pulling, but I bent the metal clip a little bit. I was able to bend it back into shape and worked fine. Make sure you keep the two "O" rings, silver washer, and the black plastic ring. I found an "O" ring after I re-installed the new filter in my gas catch bowl...sigh.. However, there were no leaks at all, so I will just cross my fingers. Also, the new filter came with a white plastic clip that would not go on. I took this clip off that was probably meant to make the next disconnect job easier on me. Can you tell I'm no mechanic?...lol.
