New passenger airbag

I have 98 mustang 3.8l and the car has a prior salvaged title and the airbags were deployed in it and the drivers side airbag cover was at least replaced but not sure about the airbag itself (i'm thinking it was because the airbag light isnt on, or was disabled), the passenger side was not replaced at all and who ever restored the car glued the passenger side airbag cover back together and needless to say looks like crap, so i ordered a new one which is still being shipped and was looking for some information on this. If the driverside airbag was replaced completely (i will check this before installing new passenger airbag) can i just plug the new one in and be done or do i still have to reset everything, and if i do have to reset everything how do i do it? Thanks in advance
