I have gotten the error code of P1189 and cannot start my 2000 Buick Century. So far I have done the following: () Check Spark Plugs for Spark (there is spark) (2) Replaced the fuel filter (3) Replaced the CAM Sensor.
Once the car sits for a little, it will crank over but will not engage. The fuel is not getting in. The fuel pump does start and runs for about 3 seconds. Any words of advice???

Re: Error Code P1189
Just because you here the pump running, does not mean you have adequate pressure. You need to check fuel pressure with a gauge.

Re: Error Code P1189
Thanks...Have another question. I used started fluid to start the vehicle and it cranked over and backfired. Car started but backfired and would not stay on.

Re: Error Code P1189
That would be consistent with inadequate fuel delivery and the explosive (starting fluid) charge in the intake. Be very careful with your use of the starting fluid or you might be shopping for a new intake in addition to solving the original problem.
