'89 chrysler electrical problem
I went to start me car and there was no power, like the battery was dead. I tested the battery and it is fully charged.
Like i said, it's like the battery is dead, no lights come on at all, turn the key and nothing. Assuming this is an electrical problem, what do I do next? |

Re: '89 chrysler electrical problem
Welcome to the forum!
Check to see if the clamps are clean and tight on the battery. Also, if the clamps are not the OEM molded style, but rather the style that bolt on to the exposed copper cable strands, there is a good chance they are not making a good connection. That style of end is really only intended as a temporary end and should be replaced with the molded cable for your application. If you confirm the issue is not due to the connection at the battery, then you need to work your way towards the key cylinder to see where you're losing power. Also, another thing to try would be to shift to neutral and try to start the car. Maybe the Park/Neutral Safety switch is failing. However if this switch were the problem your radio should work in the accessory position. Do the headlights or brake lights work? -Rod |

Re: '89 chrysler electrical problem
Battery was just dead....
I guess I wont let other people "test my battery". I'll just jump it myself, like my initial plan. Thanks for the suggestions, although I'm sorry to have wasted anyone's time. |
