Tranny vacuum line missing connection
Working on a 98 Ram 1500 5.9 A/T 4x4 but I need some direction. The truck doesn't want to kickdown and is lacking power; when the gas is punched, the RPMs increase but the truck bogs down. It will shift quickly thru the gears until it reaches high gear, then doesn't want to catch 4th unless you back off the gas. All this is accompanied by a loud hissing noise that gets louder the harder the gas pedal is pushed. There is no code or warning lights with this problem. Truck was fine until the ATF was drained and refilled.
There are 4 plastic vacuum lines on the top of the transmission housing, one red one black, one gray, one green. They all fit into rubber lines into a single "plug" which connects to the top of the transmission. One of them necks down to a rubber connector and becomes 2 lines, the other part going to a metal tube adjacent to the plug. The red and black lines go towards the front and connect to the front axle assembly. The green and gray one go toward the front driver side by the exhaust manifold connection. The gray one continues on somewhere to the back of the engine/front of the tranny, and the green one comes to a 90 degree rubber connector with a round female connection. Something is supposed to plug into that connector but it's not there. Where does this green vacuum line go, and what does it do? Could that green line be my problem? My undying appreciation for an answer. |

Quote:
Vacuumn lines are for the 4 wheel drive stuff. Transmission needs to be hooked up to a transmission capable scanner. Post back any transmission codes.
