Coolant doesnt seem to be circulating

I have a 94 subaru svx, i just replaced the thermostat. i bought the car from somebody that left it sitting around for a while. i start it up and let it run but the rADIATOR hoses never even get warm. i believe i have ran it long enough to allow the thermostat to open. i do not hear any noises that could indicate a bad bearing or something in the water pump. could the water pump be bad with no noise or leaks? the fans are not coming on either if that means anything. can anyone help?
thanks
