F150 Tritan Service Engine soon

Hello all,

My Service Engine soon light came on 2 days ago. 1st it was solid, then it blinked a few times, then solid, then blinked... so i stopped driving it. It seams like it runs fine, but i am nervous... i have crappy luck with autos...

so, my question is, how can i get the codes to help me pin point what is wrong.... old cars i know you could turn the key fast on, then off, then on or something like that. is there a way for this truck.

thx

If your truck is a post '96 model , it will have the OBDII system and can be scanned at most auto parts stores ( generally free ) and the scanner will tell you what the code means - good luck !

Ok i did as you suggested and the code that appeared was "P0302" cylinder 2 misfired. now the next question is what can cause that to happen, and what do i need to check out to fix?

thx much.

Re: F150 Tritan Service Engine soon

either the spark plug or the coil is shot....try replacing the plug and boot first and clear the code and see if it pops back up
