Instrument cluster crazy

The instrument cluster on our 1999 Winstar is almost unuseable and the tach pointer is partially broken off fron getting jammed. Hittiing bumps and hitting the dash above the cluster will sometimes restore it temporarily or make it worse. Has anyone ever figured out where the poor connectin is? Many years ago I read about others having this problem and no one had figured it out back then (2007?)

Phil

Re: Instrument cluster crazy

Hi Phil,

I remember reading somewhere that the bad solder was at the back of the instrument cluster and should apply for both the speedometer and tachometer, however I can't be sure which one is the exact one, you might want to try searching the forum for "bouncy speedometer", I remember that's the string I used.

I'll see if I can find the post I'm talking about.

Oscar.
