DIY for turn signal combination switch ?

My 1999 K1500 Sub has a phantom clicking from most likely the combo turn signal switch. I have a replacement, but was hoping for a DIY before digging in.

Thanks for any help

Re: DIY for turn signal combination switch ?

Thanks

I'm aware of that resource but haven't opted to subscribe and pay when we have forums like this available.

I hope someone has a personal experience with this.

Same device on all trucks I am sure. Just thinking about that angle; it is probably worth looking on the Silverado too.

Thanks again

Re: DIY for turn signal combination switch ?

So what makes you think it's the Mulri-Function lever?? There are other modules under the dash that may be the cause. Like the Interior Light control module, T-Case control module, etc, etc.

If the wiring was changed from OEM factory this maybe alarms/security/other aftermarket equipment.

pull fuses until the clicking stops. then post what fuse caued this .

also reveal what non OEM devices have been installed/wiring changed.

I tried a new turn signal/emerg flasher and there was no effect. There are no mods on this car. I noticed a bit of smoke the other day from the MF switch and it has been a little flaky before on the wiper operation too. Ther hasn't been a reoccurrence of the smoke fortunately.

it is quite possible the wiring in the steering colum has a short. this is not my area of experience. see if you can get detailed repair instruction to breakdown the steering wheel/column .
