Re: 05 taurus no crank at times after hot soak

Welcome to the forum!

Was the battery load test performed when the hot soak no-start/no power accessories issue was happening? Was it just the accessories and instrument lights that did not work, or were other electrical accessories dead as well (quick check would be to leave the driver's door open and check for the interior light, or try turning the headlights on)?

No I did not load test when it happened. It is my daughters car and it has happened when she was out with the car. That was all the information I could get from her. I asked her about having dash lights or anything else she could remember, but that was it. I have not got it to happen yet, but I would appreciate any ideas you might have.

Re: 05 taurus no crank at times after hot soak

It is possible to have an intermittent open circuit internal to the battery. Unfortunately to check that, you'd have to measure the battery voltage when the no power condition occurs. It will be a systematic process of starting at the battery and making voltage measurements (preferably with a test light to provide some load on the circuit) and work your way back to the ignition switch. If nothing is working at the time, including headlights or interior lights, you'll likely find the issue pretty close to the battery.

Rod thank you for your input. I have to get the concern to happen and then see what I can find.
