Help with turbo d16?
Hey guys, i got a d16y8 in my civic (96 4 door 5spd). I was wondering which kit comes with most of the parts i need to turbo my motor. I'm looking to spend no more then $1800. If i have to spend more the that down the road thats fine , but for the first kit setup thats enough for me. Also, would any turbo kit put me in the low 15's? or faster. thanks guys.

yes. any kit unless it's like pepe's auto turbo. there's people that run low 14's on 7psi of boost so low 15's is likely with around 4-5 psi

i had the greddy kit on my sohc vtec...you can run 10 pounds of boost with proper tuning on stock internals..that would be max to be safe...the greddy wastegate goes to 6pi...almost 8 psi intercooled spiked....im actually selling my greddy kit for it..let me know if your interested...im looking for 1400 plus shipping...thanks...its intercooler and xtra injectors..etc...let me know

So the greddy kit would be the kit to get i guess for me. What else besides the kit do i need to get. I can't find any info on the greddy kit for the d16y8 motor any body know any place to get the kit new and some more info on the kit? Thanks

thats because greddy doesn't make a turbo kit for the d16y8 althought they make one for the 5th gen ex motor it will fit on your motor but it is a tight fit so i am told.

ok gotcha Thanks. Sorry for asking so many questions, i'm a minitrucker and this honda is my beater and i'm just tryin to have some fun with these hondas they are fun. Anyway, does anyobdy know what else i would have to order besides just the turbo kit? Thanks

you might want to get some gauges to watch all your boost, EGT and etc...boost and an EGT would be your 2 most valuable i would say...also...a turbo timer could be useful and a manual boost controller to turn up the boost and to have different settings
