2001 stratus

Help, I'm looking at buying a 2001 stratus (se) I think, for my son for university. I went to look at car yesterday at a small dealer. Everything really clean, very good body, tiny rust on one spot. However, when on test drive, no A/C. Dealer said it just needed recharged and he would do it last night. Not sure if he will check for leaks, Is this a waste of time, don't want to spend a bundle on having it fixed. Cost of car $2900. Any advice would be great.

He's bsn' ya. A/C systems dont need recharging unless they have a leak. The refrigerant is not consumed. In a sealed system its reused constantly. If the system is leaking and its been recharged over and over again its probably lost considerable refrigerant oil and might very well have badly worn components.

I have the same issue I can charge mine and it will work for about three months.. I have the kit to do it, So here in ohio I just charge it when it gets real hot and use, costs me about 20-30 bucks.. but if it dont work you def have a leak.
