1/24 Renaissance BMW M3 Viaene-Vyncke

Hey guys,
A new summer, a new tread. This time i`m gonna build the M3 from renaissance. And this time the build ain`t gonna be the biggest problem but the livery is. Livery don`t exist, everything i`ve drawn myself. I`ll probably gonna have to redo some of the decals but those problems will be solved when i start decalling.
This car will be the version that Mathias Viaene drove at the east belgian rally, a rally for the belgian rally championship.
The car

The decals

I cleaned the body, fitted the bottom and the dash. This is a really nice kit. Everything fits nice, and cleaning up goes pretty good. After 2 days this is were i`m at. First payer of primer is sprayed on today.

The body looks pretty good so far. I`ll have to do some more sanding and puttying, and i`m gonna bring some more dept in the panel lines but so far so good.

Re: 1/24 Renaissance BMW M3 Viaene-Vyncke

Hey guys,
It`s been a while since i updated my topics. I had a lot of work so building time was limited. But now it`s vacation. 5 weeks off. ;D
So expect a lot of updates in the coming weeks.
Becourse the BMW is a curbside model i`m putting al my attention on the body. And i`m very happy. This is the best paintjob so far on a resin model. Damn, i hope i`ll achive this result with the metro.
After cleaning the body and spraying the grey primer (last update), i found some more little mistakes. I cleaned up the body, wet sanded it with 1200 untill all the primer was removed.
First layer was motip fine primer. Wet sanded it with 1200.
second layer, tamiya grey primer. Wet sanded it with 3600.
Third layer, tamiya white primer. Wet sanded it with 4000.
Then the first layer of tamiya white. Wet sanded it with 6000.
Second layer of tamiya white. Wet sanded it with 6000.
After drying for a week, i airbrushed the orange and red stripes on the body. That`s where i am now. Gonna polish the body light and than i`ll start decalling.

I don`t know. The studio 27 transkit is really good also. But the renaissance body is a good alternative if you don`t like cutting in body`s. The biggest advantage i`ve got is that i can drive to DOMINO and just take the best body they`ve got.
But i have to say, this kit fits really nice for a resin one.

The last couple of days i`ve started fitting the decals and placing them on the car. A lot of work is gone into it. The black decals were a hell but i think it was worth it. The chrome decal is from studio 27. I still have some covering up to do but i think it looks nice.

Re: 1/24 Renaissance BMW M3 Viaene-Vyncke

Wauw, i haven`t done anything at this one for almost half a year. So it`s time for a new update. The body has had it`s first mist and wet clear coat. Not really happy with the result so i`m gonna sand the body mat and give it another clear coat.
I`ve started working on the interior, finally.
Be course it`s a modern day historic rally car i updated the interior a bit.
First the dash. Instead of using the decals i put in real switches and push buttons. That gives it a bit extra

Then i had some fun with wires, Anti skid plate and some other stuff.

And yesterday i started with the seats, first one is in place

Next job : the other seat, intercom, road book, helmets and roll cage.
I gonna working on this one for a while now, i wanna have this finished buy the end of next month.

Re: 1/24 Renaissance BMW M3 Viaene-Vyncke

Today i finished the interior. Last job is putting the roll cage in place. First of all the car got a road book. No co driver leaves home without it.

From tamiya i stole a helmet box and helmets

And i made an intercom and added headsets for pilot and co pilot.

So this is the end result of the interior.

I also started at the front of the car. First job : the lights.
The BMW had a flat front. So the lights had no dept. I used a dremel (i have now idea how you call it) with this tool

Using some parts of my parts box where perfect to make the headlights. This is the result, i only need to place the clear parts

And i sprayed 3 layers of gloss varnish on the body, 1 mist layer and 2 wet coats
