Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Hello AF!
RX7KING and I decided to attempt to each build this kit at the same time and post it as a single WIP. It will probably be a slow one since I am waiting for some items and we are both working on other projects. So I will start with some basic shots and wheel options. My first choice in paint is marrone apus. SO here we go.

Stock wheels

Aoshima Kranze I believe

My first choice is from Scale Productions...

WHat do you guys think?
Thoughts and comments are welcome.
Your turn RX7KING

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

I have the kit at this point and have ordered a couple detail sets for the kit. I am waiting for my gfs camera to take pics but there is no progress at this point. I will however post pictures of the look i will be trying to achieve. If anyone has any suggestions on aftermarket wheels that will look similar to this pic? Initially I was going to do matte black w black wheels possible w a red lip,but after finding this pic I think I want to go w this:

At this point I plan to use Zero Matte Black.

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Great Idea you Two!!!
cjsbosox - go with the 3rd set from Scale Productions!

Rx7King - Love the idea, Enzo wheels would be pretty similar to those HRE wheels, instead of Matte Black, you could try a metallic black or dark metallic grey & use Zero's Matte Clearcoat. Just to give it a lift, sometimes matte black is just a little too black fro my liking...

Cant wait to see more of these 2!!

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Good Idea for the flat black look. Carlos also mentioned testing enzo wheels which I will do and post pics.

Thanks

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Have some pics to show. No real progress but I recieved my PE detail sets, one from Hobby Design and one from Tuner Model Manufactory. Each seam to have some duplcate details but some parts that are exclusive to one another. Here are some pics of what I have, still need to buy paint which is really expensive shipping from uk to us:

The instructions for the TMM detail set:

I pulled out some old Enzo wheels and tires to see how they looked, seems like only the front wheels would fit based on initial test:

A couple of the pics include my current project which is holding me up from starting this one

Thanks for looking,

Justin

Nice! This should be interesting. The enzo wheels should work well. I have extra front if you need them I believe. I ordered the TM set as well. Good to see you got a camera Justin

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Hello AF! I decided to test the colors I'm considering and would like your thoughts. As stated befor my fist choice is Marrone Apus in matte. I shot matte clear as well as 2k clear on both colors to see how gloss brigs out the color. Here you go....

Marrone apus inside

and 2nd color inside

Side by side outside

Yes I'm shirtless so don,t let it distract you

I think the Matte is not right. I am going to try something with slightly more sheen and see what happens.
Thanks to da_ashman, countach79 and iceracer1 for your feedback.

This color looks like marrone apus, which is the darker color I might use

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Hello AF!

Since I'm like a 2 year old that can't sit still, and at the risk of making Justin mad for getting ahead of him, I went on and started priming and eventually painting the body. I just could not wait to see this color on this car. I know not everyone is a fan of matte colors because cars are supposed to be shiny, and I get that. But to me Lambos are the most intimidating, vicious looking sports cars out there. And nothing says wicked and vicious like dark colors. Therefore I love Lambos in dark solid colors, and when I saw this color option on the Aventador site I had to have it.

I went on and stared painting yesterday since my F40 is having some issues. After wet sanding the primer I laid on tow light coats..

Followed by one medium and two wet coats...

If anyone is interested, this is what the color looks like wet.

After 3 coats of AlcladII matte clear and a night of drying, the color looks like this...

Outside...

Justin I might have found a color that resembles the wheels on the pic you posted here:
http://alclad2.com/finishes/candy/al...orange-enamel/

What do you guys think?

Well that's all for now. Thanks for looking!
Back to my F40

Re: Lamborghini Aventador Double WIP

Well I dont have much exciting progress to show but I figured Id post what I got so far to stay involved. Just prepped body by removing mold lines etc and used Zero key and clean to get body ready for primer, then I shot it w Duplicolor Primer as suggested by carlos. He nailed the color I am going for so tonight I ordered all the Alclad II colors I will need for this build. Here are a couple shots in primer. I need to wet sand and hit it w one more good coat before getting my paints.
