Resin parts business for sale...
No, not SAS, I wouldn't even think of it! Resinworks is up for grabs, so if any of you have dreamed of turning your hobby into a business then here is your chance. Before you ask, I won't be buying! Its not really my field and i really think that the person who continues this line should be into the types of car models they produce.
Here's the details... "A GREAT OPPORTUNITY Have you ever thought of owning your own small business? Well if you are into the model car hobby and have a mind for business here is your chance! Resinworks, a well-established reputable aftermarket company is for sale. The first question you will ask yourself is why. Time, It all comes down to time. I do Resinworks as a side business. I have a great wife, 2 great kids (one turning 13 in November) and a full time career. After 5 years of blood sweat and tears Resinworks has grown to the level that it needs someone that has more time and energy to take it to the NEXT level. I am not able to dedicate the time it needs and I hate seeing it stay were it is at and missing its potential in the market. Information on the company: Resinworks began in the spring of 1998. Determined to offer unique detail items to the model car hobbyist, I purchased tools and basic knowledge on how to pour resin from master modeler John MacGowen. With-in the year Resinworks was up and running and had proved to the modeling community that good customer service was only second to the quality parts offered. We poured parts for our own line as well as for Detail Master, at the time the hobbys leading aftermarket company. In the course of the first year in business we developed what we feel was the first of its kind – A Late Model Dirt Track kit. The production run of the 50 limited edition kits sold out with-in 14 months of introduction to the public. The PT Coupe, mastered by Duane Hester, has been a benchmark for Resinworks. It is now in its second set of molds and has sold over 150 copies since introduced. The PT Coupe won 2nd place in the Scale Auto PT Contest and the coupe is going to be featured in an upcoming article in Scale Auto in 2003. Duane has recently completed a new master for a PT Convertible with the same stylish bodylines as the coupe. The PT Roadster Coupe will compliment the current release of the PT Convertible model by Revell. This master is a part of the unmolded inventory and future success of Resinworks. The 1960 Ford Wagon trans kit has been a great success. The master was made combining ERTL new 60 Ford Starliner with the roof line from the rare Hubley 60 Ford Wagon kit. Over 70 hours was spent making the master for this. The master for this is also included in the inventory. 1960 Ford 2 Door Sedan. This is another ERTL 60 Ford Starliner body that was mated to another rare Hubley kit; the 60 Ford 4-door sedan. The roof section was cut and assembled to fit perfectly. Vacuum- formed rear glass is included in this trans-kit. This is a long awaited transkit and I have had many orders for this conversion. This has wide appeal to modelers who do factory stock, police and utility vehicles as well as stock car and drag car builders. The master for this is also included. Detail Items – I have a long list of parts that have been offered through Resinworks. Some are re-pops of old rare kit items and some have been mastered either by me or I have paid to have them mastered. Our Skull Shift knob is still to date one of our top selling detail items. This item was mastered by Nathan Sills. This has got to be one of the neatest items for any 30's through 60's custom or street rod model! On top of all the parts I have molded already I have a very large supply of old and rare items that have yet to be molded that would be great items in resin. Fender skirts, old 3n1 custom parts for kits that are still available but current manufacturers don't include these in today's re-issues. I also have seats, engines, tires and rims. All of these items will be included in the inventory. We are also the first Aftermarket Company to offer resin cat 1/18 scale detail items. While this market has been slow to grow I honestly haven't marketed it as strong as I should. Other than on a couple bulletin boards dedicated to the 1/18 scale collectors and a few Ebay auctions I haven't pushed it much. I have more items mastered for the 1/18 scale line that are not listed on the web site. These items just need molds made and will be instant sales. NEW PRODUCT LINE: The new 2003 product line for Resinworks has been modified dirt and asphalt parts, bodies, frames, engines and tires & wheels. I have been greatly surprised at the support and orders I have received from the builders of this style of model. It has kept the first 4 months of the 2003 year very busy for me. Besides the 4 modified bodies I currently offer I have 4 other bodies that are mastered and need molds made and added to the product as well as many different tire and wheel combo sets that have been mastered and still need molds made and released to the public. This all comes with the company and will help the new owner maximize revenues for the remainder of the 2003 year and beyond. The ONLY advertising I do to promote my company and products is Ebay and sending items to be used at Swap Meets and Model Contests for raffles and awards, and a couple of shows each year (Birmingham, KC and St Louis). I also have a couple dealers that sell my products, but again I haven't put much time in finding more dealers because of the time to build up their inventory as well as handle the orders I have coming in from the web site. This has provided enough work to keep me busy and to keep the business profitable in order to keep new products coming to the market. The other aspect that Resinworks offers in resin casting is custom one off casting for customers. While this isn't a large part of the business, it does lend itself to be a very profitable opportunity to work on non-model car related items and to further your knowledge and skills as a resin caster by using different materials and mold making products. Inventory of Resinworks: Tools: All tools needed to properly make molds and pour resin. Everything from Compressors to vacuum pumps to pressure pots. Vacuum-form machine, small tools, big tools, workbenches, storage cabinets and a Craftsmen stack tool chests to store your molds – you get it ALL – over $4000 in tools & cabinets alone! Molds: You get ALL molds for ALL items Resinworks currently lists on the web site as well as ALL molds for past products we produced and sold through Resinworks web site. RTV & Resin: You will receive 10 pounds of RTV and 2 gallons of NEW resin with the purchase of the business as well as any remaining RTV and resin I have on hand at the time of sale. Table Top Display: Complete trade show/swap meet tabletop display. Costs over $500 to make and is easy to assemble. A great looking way to display the product line at shows. Masters: You will get ALL masters Resinworks has on hand. Some masters like the PT Coupe were sent back to Duane Hester to keep in his collection. You will also get all masters I have created or have had created but have yet to make molds of. PT Roadster Coupe, Dirt Modified bodies, Dirt and asphalt tires and rims and old out of production model parts. Models: You will get a mix of about 75 current and vintage kits and builts the value totaling over $800 (real money not Ebay prices). Some of these are to be used for transkit displays of current or future Resinworks parts and bodies. Some of these were purchased for rare kit items to make duplicates of and some were purchased for future transkits. Current ERTL and Monogram kits, rare Hubley kits, old MPC kits and a few old Revell kits. MISC.: Many pieces and parts in 1/24, 1/25 and 1/18 scale that have been or will be used for future resin parts. Web Site: Transfer of web site paid for 2 years to new owner. Hosting service contract will be paid for the remaining year as well. At that time new owner can make decision as to were to host the web site. Also I will pay to have the web site updated with new contact information and order form made to reflect new owners business address and have updated Pay Pal info put into each item on the site currently. Ebay handle: I will also release the Ebay handle so the new owner can have the handle of "Resinworks". Training: I will train who ever purchases the business. They will have to pay for their own way to Springfield Missouri and pay for the hotel lodging during the training. I would like to have at least 3 days to train someone, 5 would be better. This would ensure I could teach them how to make molds from start to finish and pour resin correctly. This can be done in the middle of the week or over a weekend, I am flexible on this but I insist the person allow me to train them unless they have resin casting experience already. This will only ensure the new owner can continue to create a quality product. Dealers & Swap meets: I have 3 dealers that carry my product line. Two dealers in the USA and one in Sweden. I have had the opportunity to get more on line but as stated to get this rolling properly has kept me from doing so. The new owner could get great return on his investment by getting a few more targeted dealers online who are hitting the big shows, like the California NNLs and the shows out East. I have not been able to travel to these shows because of my full time career. I usually do Birmingham NNL in the Spring, KC Slammers show in the Summer and if lucky St. Louis/Kirkwood in the Spring or Fall. I always do very well at these shows and the product line is always well received. Adding more swap meets to the mix would only increase the products sold and gives the end user a chance to view the products up close and feel comfortable about buying the products. The bottom line: I am asking $6000 for the entire business. This is a legitimate business with P&L Sheets for the past 5 years. It will return your investment with in one year if you work it and will return your investment with in 18 months to 2 years if you just continue at the pace it is now. I am NOT looking to finance someone – I am not a bank – but would consider a partial down payment (over ½ up front) and a payment plan (short term) to the right person under the right situation. I will sign a 5-year non-compete that I will NOT start another model car related resin casting company. I will also sign a 1-year agreement to consult the new owner of the business on new products, mold making, and resin casting and/or any thing else they may need help with pertaining to the business. I would really like to see someone buy this that has the time to take it to the next level. A retired hobbyist or older adult looking to offset his income, a person with business experience and the free time to give. The right person can really do well with this, is that person you? Any further questions please feel free to email me directly. Thanks Larry Krauck [email protected] Because of the storms that struck our neighborhood on May 4, the web site is temporally down so I may concentrate on getting our house back in order. It will be back in working order by the middle to end of June. None of the items needed to run Resinworks were damaged during the storm. www.resinworks.com"

I've met Larry (at the Birmingham NNL) and he's a very good guy to talk with and deal with, and his offer is good. Someone will take him up on it! His products are good.
