92 Cougar a/c compressor
Does anyone know how to rebuild the a/c compressor? Mine has no freon in it, there was a leak due to a missing schrader valve. The clutch only engages when I increase the psi to 40-45 using compressed air. (Also my a/c compressor has a broken connector, rigged it with wires to power it to see if it would work hence the results of it only engaging with high psi). I am a fairly experienced mechanic, I just don't know much about the a/c compressor. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: 92 Cougar a/c compressor
Is it worth fixing if it's original? Seen a bunch on ebay, remans for under $100.

Re: 92 Cougar a/c compressor
Everything under the hood is original except for my upper and lower control arms, had no access to a press to put ball joints in existing control arms.

It seems that you have a real Piece of S**t on your hands here. From what i've just read, your going to be better off replacing the damn compressor, installing new AC Lines, and please, for the love of God....pay someone to evac AND recharge this disaster. I can tell you now, if you decide to skimp here or there, your going to end up paying AT LEAST Double what it woud have cost you to do it right the 1st time.
I'm a ASE MAster Cert Tech. Trust me, I see this all the time. |
