94 s10 blazer leaking fuel behind block
I have a 1994 s-10 blazer tahoe LT 4x4 4 door with 4.3L v6 "W" in vin auto trans. It has the center port injector. A few weeks ago starting it up; the truck had a rough idle, smelled gas, and missed alot. I know its most likely the spider and nut kit. But what I need to know is where could fuel be leaking from the back side of the block. When I touched the small puddle on the ground i smelt the gas and it looked oilly or had soot mixed in. I am not too sure. Any help would be great.
Also, anyone got any cheap ideas to replace the oil coolng lines (eng. to filter & filter to rad.) Could i cut them and clamp on new black hose? If so what kind? |

Check fuel pressure and leakdown. Key ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running: Pressure must be 55psi to 61psi and must remain above 50psi for 10 minutes after the pump shuts off. Post your results.
The oil cooler lines can be modified so they will never leak again. Mark the tubes so you don't get them transposed, there is an "in" and an "out". Remove just the original crimp connectors from the aluminum tubes, do not cut the tubes. Measure the distance between the tube ends. Find a shop that makes hydraulic lines. Each line requires two 1/2" compression to 1/2" hydraulic line fittings, they're about $15 each. The hydraulic line is crimped into the fittings. The overall length needs to be 1" longer than the distance between the tube ends on the vehicle. When it's done, it looks like this: ![]() Stick 'em in and tighten 'em up. Engine oil pressure is well under 100psi, the new line assemblies are good to around 3,000psi. Just a little overkill, but they will not leak, unlike all replacements. Total cost is about $90 and a couple of hours of your time.

Some of the "chain type" auto parts stores rent fuel pressure testers. It's actually a good tool to have in your tool box due to the frequent problems with the system on this engine, they usually run about $40. The service port is next to the distributor, on the driver side.
