Anybody installed fiberglass fenders?

I've been thinking about getting Fiberglass front fenders for a while. I'd like to hear from anybody that put them on or knows about them. 4x4parts.com and SLR sells them.

I've seen a set on an X, and personally I think they look like crap. Makes the X resemble a chipmunk that stuffed its cheeks full of seeds...

I think they look like crap too, plus they probably shake and damage easily, but if having huge tires is more important than looks then maybe it would be worth it.

Well, I just ordered front fiberglass fenders and rear flares. That'll give me an extra 3" - 4" of tire clearance so I can get a bigger offset rim. I'd think that would make the truck a lot more stable.

Put the fenders on last night and I like 'em!

But I think I'll remove the hood scoops. They look really cheesie.

I guess those scoops are just setting on the hood?

Lund makes them and I got them on Ebay. Look for the Lund Medium Eclipse scoops.

Those look really nice on the X! These fenders are awesome. They are about half the weight of the steel ones and stronger. They are also easy and cheap to repair. Here is a better pic with my bumper on.

Yeah... I've seen several pics of your truck and I think it looks great... leave the hood scoops on, though, it adds a lot to the desert runner look... just not sure how much I like them on the Xterra... how big of a pain in the ass was the install and how do they fit?

They are too easy to put on, it's just 3m tape. I was planning on making them functional by cutting the hood for a ram air system, but I decided not to.

The fit on the front was easy. The rear was fairly easy but I had to drill and trim the fenders which was scary.

I posted more info here:

If a Subaru Outback had sex with a Land Rover, THATS what the kids would look like.
