Re: James Dean Porsche
Beautiful job Russ, on what I consider to be a not very good kit!
If I had any criticism at all, it would be directed to the kit itself, rather than your excellent building skills! Given the prices MFH charge and their skilled production team, I really think they could have made a better researched bodyshell for the 550. The steering wheel should be a standard Porsche 3 spoke banjo (with 120 degree spokes), the door shut lines are a mile out and AFAIK, the red darts didn't have yellow pinstriping. MFH have based the wheels on Porsche/VW 15" rims, whilst the 550 ran the earlier 16" versions...subtle difference but Spyder pervs like myself will see it! ![]() One thing that would make it more accurate would be the removal of the drivers side front indicator lens, as it was never seen on the car. It's rumoured that Dean himself knocked it off driving away the from the dealers, whilst other sources suggest it was damaged in transit from Germany. I'll get my coat!

Re: James Dean Porsche
Thanks for the comments cinqster,
They say you learn something in every build and in this case as well. I knew about the steering wheel but did'nt want to rob one from a fujimi kit, but neat facts in regards to light and gold pinstripe. the only photos' I could find were mainly b/w or other models. Thanks again |

Re: James Dean Porsche
Very nice work on a rather simple and expensive curbside kit.
I wish someone would do some of the racing 550's, not a customer car. I would love to see a Pan Am 550 topless version. Even 550/2 with it's top removed in Canada shoes colors would be great. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 |

Re: James Dean Porsche
I second Tom's comment about wishing someone would do the open Pan Am 550s - would love to see Paul Fisher do these cars, excellent quality, resonable prices.
