Vintage Corvette Z06
This is Revell's reissued snap-kit '63 Corvette Z06 split-window coupe. It was done for review, with a few extra details added to take it above a simple OOB build. The basic kit is very nice, I've already built one as Bondurant's #614 racer that raced when the car was new, and now has been restored as a vintage racer, featured on Gran Turismo 4.
I painted the model w/decanted Tamiya pure white, clearcoated w/Gunze #46 solvent-based clear. Interior was treated to embossing powder for the carpet texture, the interior was painted Italian red. I also added seatbelts. The hood vents are interesting; they're the kit-provided stickers printed in silver w/open (clear) areas for black to show through. I colored some copy paper w/a black Sharpie, applied the stickers, then cut them out and used spray adhesive to attach to the model. They look surprisingly realistic on the model (so much so that I asked for a couple extra sets of stickers for a future convertible build). I also made an antenna from brass wire and a small piece of styrene tubing that I shaped on my Dremel tool. The side mirror was a parts-box piece donated to me by a friend, I think it's from a '50's Corvette. For such a simple kit, it details out nicely, and was a very fun model to finish. I'll do the convertible soon, I hope. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Vintage Corvette Z06
Read your write up in Scale Auto, this morning in fact! For the simple kit, the end result is stunning! Love the interior.

Re: Vintage Corvette Z06
Thanks for the comments! This was a fun one, and I hope to see more of these things built. Just because a kit has simple roots doesn't mean it can't look like a lot more than just the sum of its parts.
