2000 astro install window regulator driver side helo

my window regulator is rotten and started coming off in pieces. So I am looking to install new.So should I just get the regulator or regulator and motor all in one assembly. If the latter of the 2 any help on a schematic and how to would be great. also I hear this is spring loaded and can cut or slice fingers and hands so any saftey advise as well. I am pretty sure I can handle this challenge just need so guidence and what to acspect etc.
