I'm replacong the ignition switch in my 97 Grand AM SE 3.1L, with AT, tilt wheel, console (floor) shifter, and the key lock cylinder in the steering column. Chilton specifies different positions for the new ignition switch, depending on the column configuration. Specifically , it says:
"■Tilt column with key release—extreme right detent ■Tilt column with PARK/LOCK—1 detent from extreme right ■All other tilt columns—2 detents from extreme right" My question is, what is MY configuration? Can anyone define the first two types specified? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: What Type Steering Column Do I Have?
Sorry, as it turns out the new ignition switch isn't as described in Chilton and doesn't have the detents.
