Can you identify this circa 1916 car?

Hi, I have an old postcard with a man driving what looks like a sort of race car. It is signed in such a way to suggest that this guy was in some way a professional driver "George Stevens, Season 1916". Also, on the back of the card, he writes, "I hope you will find this card a good souvenir of the old sport....". Does anyone know what kind of car this is, or who this George Stevens was? I'm attaching both the front and the back of the card.
Thank you in advance,
vicstah (from mass)

Take your photo and post it on the forum at www.hemmings.com . Someone there will have an answer to your question . Good luck !
