Moly Rings for a Chevy 265?

Hi. I am building a 55 chevy with a 265 bored .060
with JE forged pistons. Does anyone know where I
can find Moly Rings for a .060 over 265? JE wants
a part # for the rings before they make the pistons
as it is a custom order.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Moly Rings for a Chevy 265?

Speed Pro (Federal Mogul/Sealed Power) lists part no.

R-9519-65

This should be just what the JE engineer wants to "see". This is a plasma-moly top ring, ductile iron second and "normal" tension oil ring. The compression rings are "file fit", thus the "65" (.065" oversize) on the part number. 1/16, 1/16, 3/16

It also occurs to me, this is the same bore size as a 305, so a set of "stock" moly 305s (plus 60, of course) would work fine for a "driver". Use the "early" 305 stuff (pre-88) as the later parts are "metric". A more "conventional" 5/64, 5/64, 3/16 "pack"...

Sorry Jim, no cigar for you. The 265 was 3.750" bore x 3.000" stroke. Taking a +0.060" cut on the bore would make the motor 3.810" x 3.000". The 305 was 3.736" bore x 3.480" stroke and a +0.060" bore increase would put the 305 bore at 3.796". Close, but no cigar.
Richard

P.S. Using a 265 block and having custom pistons made for it is insane in my opinion. 350 blocks are available free most anywhere you ask, so why would you spend the bucks for custom pistons when you can put a set of "over the counter" pistons in a 350 block for less than a hundred bucks? Put 265 decals on the valve covers and lie about it.
